About Apetina
Apetina, a remote Indigenous village deep in the heart of Suriname’s Amazon rainforest, offers a unique and authentic experience for adventurous travelers looking to explore one of the most pristine and culturally rich corners of the world. Known for its breathtaking natural beauty and the vibrant traditions of the local Indigenous communities, Apetina provides an immersive journey into the untouched wilderness of Suriname.
Located on the banks of the Tapanahony River in central Suriname, Apetina is home to about 500 people, predominantly from the Trio, Wayana, and Aparai Indigenous groups.

Getting to Apetina
Reaching Apetina is an adventure in itself. The village is accessible only by plane or boat, adding to the sense of isolation and remoteness that makes this destination so special. Most travelers fly into Apetina from Paramaribo, Suriname’s capital, or take a boat from the river village of Godo Olo, which is about a 4-5 hour journey along the Tapanahony River. The boat ride is an experience not to be missed, offering views of the stunning river landscapes, waterfalls, and occasional wildlife sightings along the way.
